Greetings from (mildly) warm Cardiff. April came like a thunderstorm and will soon be leaving us, tired, stressed and a wee bit overwhelmed. But hey ho, at Dyddiau Du we are battling through to provide you with a full bill of fun and nice things to keep us all going.
Featured Poem
“There seems to be something intrinsic to poetry inspired by sea where the ‘I’ becomes fluid, becomes intertwined with what is around. The poet is the environment around them, the rivers run through their veins, the trees breathe through their lungs. In this particular poem, the cycle of nature appears like a walking trail through the lines, ending up back in the same place, no matter how far out we go.”
— Rhys Shanahan
‘She is the Sea’ is available to buy here and can be found in our library.
Coming up
May will be blooming busy for all you cool and adventurous cats.
Monday 1st May — Creative Writing Workshop
Didn’t get a chance to come to Rhys’ last cut-up and erasure workshop? Well the generous boyo is doing another. Last month’s session produced some whacky and wonderful work and hopefully this next one will continue in the same vein. Material and equipment provided, bring your own weirdness!
Wednesday 3rd — Clwb Crochet
All skill levels are welcome, wool and hooks available. Give it a go and have some fun. I kind of need some new socks too, so if anyone needs some motivation picture my cold feet.
New Exhibition !!!!
Friday 5th May, 6 - 8pm
We are teaming up once again with our lovely friends at Queerdos for this new exhibition.
What does it mean to be a rainbow family? We want to give space to people to explore this, for queer youth and families to express themselves in whatever way they choose.
This exhibition will be a follow-up to Queerdos’ Big Art Bonanza at Ffotogallery (29th April, 12-4pm). Annnd in partnership with Impact: A 52 week LGBTQ+ youth group. Who provide a friendly and safe environment which allows you to become friends with like-minded people, while socialising, playing sports, doing arts & crafts. More info about the important work Impact does here
Cardiff Collage Club, Tuesday 6 - 8pm
Collage Club is back once again for another session. Come down for a snip and knatter. Keep a close eye on Collage Club’s instagram and our eventbrite page to book your tickets.
That’s All Folks….
Expect more from your faithful queer correspondent about the rest of the great stuff we have planned for you coming soon.
Of course, you know we are open Friday — Sunday for perusal of the library, chillaxing and relaxing. So I hope to see you all drop in if you can wade into the murky waters of Cardiff city centre.

Thank you for reading, and we hope you are being gay and doing crime.
