Beyonce is in town!! She hasn’t come to the space yet but we’ve left a slot open for her at the open mic tonight, just in case. More importantly though, how are you all? Keeping sane in the insane world? Keeping insane in the sane world? Yes, us too.

Tom Emelyn’s songs seem to perfectly embody a moment, a short glimpse of time. The zine that accompanies his newest album ‘Return Journey Revisited: Scaredycat Vol.1 (go listen to it, go buy it) contains a journey in and of itself. We get taken back to where the songs were written, we sit with Tom outside cafes in Frankfurt, meet old friends and Swansea anarchists. But going through the whole ride, is a nostalgia that’s hard to put your finger on, a nostalgia that could be for years earlier or just a moment before.
See Tom’s instagram (@tomemlyn) or listen to his recen appearance on News from Nowhere podcast to dive in to all things Emelyn.
Film Club
Sunday, May 28, 4 - 7pm — Fake Your Death, Take a Seat is back for Volume 2! We invite you, our community, to take an active role in cinema. The purpose of this series of Film Club is to connect audiences to local political groups through the medium of cinema.
We invite you to take your seat, not as individual spectator, but rather as participant in a collective act of cinematic interpretation and appropriation.
This month’s film is a portrait of European boundaries. While food and goods are able to travel across all frontiers, there are severe restrictions for human beings. Pepsi, a trans woman and refugee plays, in this documentary, the role of Joan d’Arc, putting her journey on a different scale, even beyond survival: standing for human rights and asylum of the most marginalized communities. Passing through an Undefined International Landscape she finds the strength to tell her intimate story which recalls the ancient myth of Europa.
Keep an eye out for more details to follow.
Until next time
