Hello and a Happy New Year!
We’re back at it for another year. We haven’t got the time to work on any new year resolutions, no #newyearnewme, because we’re bringing you an absolutely stacked schedule of events and workshops each month.
Strap yerself in, because this one is a big boy. As it’s the new year, we would like to reintroduce some old posts and vibes.
Before we get into it though, here’s our first Featured Poem of the year!
‘Apricots’ has a mouthy toughness and tongue knottedness that is reminiscent of Sylvia Plath; and I think the reference to Plath’s work is no mistake. However, in this visceral poem, there is a slobbering, seeping, juicy moment left in place of the poem. A devoured fruit left on the page.

Book of the Month
This month’s Book of the Month is a play, originally published in 2005 by Faber & Faber, as chosen by Rhys Shanahan (that boy is getting a lot of air time this week). Here’s what he has to say about it:
A bunch of artists being arty in Shoreditch. On the face of it, this play in two acts sounds like my worst nightmare. But, with a keen satirical eye and an exhilarating command of stagecraft and language, Lenkiewicz captures perfectly the mid-2000s toxicity of London’s bohemian art scene that still feels relevant today.
And here’s a reminder of our opening times (like you need a reminder!
That’s a wrap! Thank you for reading, and we hope you had a lovely festive period. Make 2023 your sub, baby!
